Lazy Words

People are so lazy, with the words that they use,

it causes problems with clarity and serves to confuse.

Even the term “literally”, now means no such thing,

and please don’t get me started on the word “stunning”.

Oh,ok! All things half-decent are “stunning” these days,

I find it so symptomatic of the general malaise.

What’s happened to fabulous, fantastic and gorgeous,

spectacular, wonderful, splendid and wondrous?

In fact, everything is “stunning”, all days of the week,

It’s what you might call; “estate agent speak”.

So let’s hear it for marvellous, quality, diamond and choice,

anything that’s different and said with a proud voice.
